What About Electric Vehicle Tires?

What About Electric Vehicle Tires?

We know electric vehicle tires because we install them! We see what comes off and when and how much a new set of tires will cost.

EV tires need low rolling-resistance and reinforcement in the right places. If you're looking for an EV or Hybrid tire recommendation, talk to an expert --

Even the best tires can ride and feel like crap if they're not installed and balanced right -- That's why EV Tire Recommendations ans Service is best left to the experts.

Here's a few things we'd like you to know about EV tires --

-- EV tires use less energy to get moving -- Rolling resistance in tires is the measure of the energy it takes to overcome the resistance of the road -- If you coasted two tires of the same size along a smooth level road, one would stop first due to rolling resistance.

Electric vehicle tires use special tread compounds and designs that have less resistance to the road to extend battery life, but these tires can be terrible in the winter! Ask us about the right tire for your Electric and Hybrid vehicle.

-- EV tires wear faster -- Electric vehicle tires are usually high-performance tread compound. They grip and handle better at the expense of treadwear.

The torque of an electric motor can leave a lot of rubber on the road! And you could be buying tires every 20,000 miles!

-- EV tires cost more -- All that tire technology costs money -- EV tires can cost $300+ each.

Electric vehicle tires probably wouldn't make much difference in a gas-powered car, but they help define an electric car's ride. Most tire stores will recommend replacing EV tires with the same ones that came with the vehicle, but there are off-the-shelf tires that work just as well.
